The Mokkers @ Radio Eins // Interview with Frauke Oppenberg

On tuesday before the Festsaal Kreuzberg gig we were invited to an interview in the local radio emitter radio eins. We ran to the Admiral Palast since we just came back from Munich and greeted the friendly moderator Frauke Oppenberg. We chated a bit about being a girl band in a field dominated mostly by men, about "the mokkers" name origine and relation with what we do and some things more. It was short and intense. They took a pictue of us where we look very tired but happy, since we were so glad abut this invitation and obviously about this fleeting tour.
Here is what happened.

The Allah-las (+special guests: The Mokkers) german tour!!! // round 3: Hamburg (Moin Moin)

Molotow! Yey! Heard so much about it. So many now well known bands played there, bands that now play in stadions and huge places that sell expensive tickets.
Since Sergi wanted to check some record stores in town we tried to meet quite early. Obviously we made it one hour later than the original meeting time. We bought tones of shitty food on the one hand and some fruits and healthy stuff on the other and started another trip, this time shorter.
Above the door a panel with many names of now mythical bands that once played there. The venue was smaller than the others, familiar and kind of underground and raw. The way we like it!
Soundcheck bla bla bla, big boal filled with fruits in the back and millions of penises drawn on every single corner of the walls. Even the bones behind the skulls were penises. All type of drawing styles to represent in so many unbelievable different ways this part of the human masculine body. Last venue, last concert, last night...So relieving and sad. We made a picture all together as a testimony of these intense, fast, funny days and short kind of "working together" with the guys. The venue was crowded again, but this time everything was more familiar and relaxed. Some exitement but no nerves anymore. Real garage nasty sound and a mokkers' go-go dance, "headcoatees" style, at Allah-las concert. Maracas in hand without knowing very well what to do, we just gave our best dancing as there is no tomorrow.
Later in the groundfloor the hit "Triste y solo- mi Generación version" made me go crazy. Then some sould and 60's made everybody dance. At the end we all tried to burn the dance floor. We lost some soldiers but with the resting people we ended up at an asian karaoke place called Thai Oase.
"Should I stay should I go" and other forever hits weren't able to make any part of the guy selecting the song's face change. He looked totally bored and not giving a fuck what was happening around him. Weird and funny paradoxal landscape having him nearby the drunken people giving their best singing their favourites songs.
So, then home, this seems to be the end of that chapter.
We enjoyed a lot, hope who read that does as well!
xx

The Allah-las (+special guests: The Mokkers) german tour!!! // round 2: Berlin (Festsaal Kreuzberg)

Back to Berlin! Festsaal Kreuzberg, rush rush rush, then wait wait wait, as always. We were suposed to play early. Nice catering in the basement backstrage. Red lights...
A screw missing. last minute stress, everything fixed and ready 5 min before gig...
It was really packed, very crowded... you couldn't even try to walk through the people. We were glad and nervous and exited. Went on stage at 21:30 and started to play. The amount of people was obscene and the stage was so warm that we got a sweat shower while playing. We had a good feeling afterwards though, and went with our exitement, some kind of relieve and a quite wet to see the Allah-las show. Liked them even more than last time or the time before. Everybody liked them as well, everybody knew the lyrics and shaked slowly their shoulders from one side to the other.
After packing everything in the car we went to Wowsville to have a drink and chat but what the guys & co. were really looking forward to was Hühnerhaus, a stand in the middle of the street behind Görlitzer Park were you can get Chicken and chips at any time, even 3:00 a.m. as we could prove.

The Allah-las (+ special guests: The Mokkers german tour!!!) // round 1: München (part 3)

The Allah-las (+ special guests: The Mokkers) german tour!!! // round 1: München (part 2)

...We went by all the monumental impressive buildings. There were classic columns and lions everywhere. We had to ask to locals about the "wave" or Eisbach -a friend told me about the wave that is in the middle of the city, were locals surf or just look how others surf- They told us to cross the "English Garden" and pass the "Haus der Künste". We found it finally but it was much smaller than I expected! Even though it was nice to sit and watch the guys fighting aginst the artificially busted part of the river.
Warm cofee in an ice-cream shop in front of some kind of museum where there was a Hermann Hesse exhibition where we couldn't go since we were in a rush again. We found our new place to stay. A guy called Julian, friend of my friend Ibrahim. He lived in a beautiful area full of cafes. We parked in a forbidden place. Is there possible to find a park place in Munich? I honestly don't think so.
Soooo we just left our stuff at Julians place and ran to Strom
a quite nice and big venue. Allah-las guys were already there with the sound-check, we met later all in a room in the back. Spencer, Miles, Matthew and Pedrum, always accompanied by their tour daddy Mike, who was caring about every single thing to work fine. There was food around but we couldn't eat so much due to the exitement. Beer and speed chats, and very soon we had to go on stage. We freaked out with how many people were there. Apparently tickets were sold out. We started our 30 min. set and everybody applauded and yelled and danced and enjoyed our music so we ended up crazyly happy feeling our first success. It was hard to pass through the crowd to see Allah-las concert but we finnally made it. Atmosphere was great, merch was easily sold and we all went later to have a drink to a bar called Favorit, which look like a cosy neuköllner bar..
Not so much going on in Munich on a monday night, but still, wonderful evening and glad to reach the bed.
